Is your child active enough?

It's an alarming trend, 25% of Australian children are now considered obese!

The Australian Department of Health recommends the following:

  • Toddlers and pre-schoolers should accumulate at least 3 hours of physical activity (light, moderate or vigorous) every day.
  • Children (0-5 years) should not be sedentary, restrained or kept inactive for more than 1 hour at a time, with the exception of sleeping.
  • Children (less than 2 years) should not take part in any screen time activities (using electronic media such as television, seated electronic games, portable electronic devices or computers for entertainment) activities.
  • Children (2-5 years) should be limited to less than one hour per day of screen time.

If they have the right 3 wheel scooter, many kids are able to start scootering at around 2 years of age and when they do, most of them will find it quite fun.

If your child is struggling to get the 3 hours of activity a day, buy them a scooter and take them to the park.  You'll find after a short time that they'll be begging to get back on the scooter.
