Zoomy Play Couch FAQ

What is the Zoomy Play Couch Made of?

The exterior fabric of the Zoomy Play Couch is constructed using a soft microsuede material that is soft to touch and provides just enough friction for great builds.

The cover is 100% polyester and has no harmful substances.

The waterproof inner liner that lies between the microsuede exterior and the interior foam consists of a fabric that is 50% polyester and 50% polyurethane. Polyurethane is completely safe for humans and is often used to waterproof outdoor fabrics such as raincoats.

The interior filling is a high density CertiPUR-US certified non-toxic foam. This foam is certified to be free of flame retardants and made without ozone depleters, mercury, formaldehyde, phthalates, lead, and other heavy metals. It has low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions which means the air quality is not compromised.

The zippers are all high quality YKK zippers. YKK zippers are trusted world-wide for their impeccable production standards and thorough quality control processes. You basically won't find a better zipper anywhere.

What this all means is that we've sourced the safest materials that will stand the test of time and that won't harm you or your children.

What Kind of Foam do you Use?

Inside the Zoomy Leisure Play Couch, you'll find Memory Foam.

Memory Foam has become a very popular lately in mattresses and pillows, especially the ones you can order online such as Koala and Sleeping Duck. The benefit of memory foam is that it can be highly compressed, and then return back to its original shape. This makes it easier for shipping.

One of the not so good features of memory foam is that it absorbs moisture. You should be very careful to avoid interaction between your couch and any type of moisture. This can speed up the degeneration of the couch, and the usable life will be reduced. It also makes it difficult to clean.

We all know children can be messy and this is why all Zoomy Play Couches include waterproof liners.

Memory Foam is commonly measured using two numbers: The Density and the Hardness.

Zoomy Play Couches have the following specs:

Foam density 1.7lb/ft3
Foam hardness 60ILD

The Foam density is a measure of how much foam there is packed into a certain space. A lower density item would loose it's shape rather quickly. Low density foam is used in packaging or in camping applications. Higher density foam is used for high end furniture or boating applications.

The foam density most commonly used for mid-range residential furniture is 1.8. When foam is being used for mattresses or a family couch that's sat on for hours at a time, then higher density foam is really important. In general your play couch will have shorter bursts of concentrated use so a medium density foam works really well.

The Hardness is measured using ILD (Indentation Load Deflection). ILD measure the weight in pounds required to compress a 4 inch thick 15 inch x 15 inch piece of foam by 25%.

An ILD of 60 means it takes 60 lbs (27 kg) to compress a 38x38cm square of foam by 2.5cm.

A high ILD means the foam is really firm and a low ILD means it's really soft. For a play couch, you generally want a firm foam with a high ILD so your builds will stay in place. Softer foam may be more comfortable, but will not hold as much weight during play. For this reason, the Zoomy Play Couch uses extra firm foam.

Can My Kids Carry the Zoomy Play Couch?

The different cushions weight the following:

Base: 6.5 kg
Cushion: 4.1 kg
Pillow: 1.2 kg

The Zoomy Play Couch is designed for children of all ages. Most children shouldn't have difficulty lifting the pillows. Younger children may struggle to lift the cushion and base, but they can certainly use the inbuilt handles to drag them if they have to.

How Do You Ship the Zoomy Play Couch

The Zoomy Play Couch is made from memory foam. Memory foam is highly compressible if you vacuum the air from it. This allows us to compress the Zoomy Play Couch into a relatively small box.

Each piece is vacuum sealed into a bag and packaged into the box.

Once you open the box and pierce the bag, the couch will start expanding.

Is Shipping Free?

Zoomy Leisure has always offered free shipping anywhere in Australia. The play couches are big and heavy (15kg) and this means shipping to country Australia is very expensive.

Shipping is free for the greater Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth regions. Shipping outside those areas costs $40 per Play Couch.

How Long can I Keep my Zoomy Play Couch in the Box?

We recommend removing your play couch from the box as soon as you can but it's not the end of the world if you don't. The longer the play couch is left in the box, the longer it will take to fully expand and unwrinkle. Any extra time in the box won't affect the couch's long time performance.

How Long Does it Take to Fully Expand the Zoomy Play Couch

Once you open your Zoomy Play Couch and pierce the vacuum bag, the couch will start expanding immediately. Your couch will be usable within a few minutes.

Since it has been highly compressed it may take a few days for the couch to fully take it's shape and unwrinkle.

If your kids play and bounce on the couch, it will help it fully shape and unwrinkle faster!

How do I Wash my Zoomy Play Couch?

All Zoomy Play Couches have microsuede covers with zippers so you can easily remove them for cleaning.

A waterproof cover protects the foam so you should never have to clean the foam.

For small spills, first try spot cleaning with a damp cloth. If this doesn't work, try using a mild vinegar and baking soda solution. If the stain persists, take the cover off and throw it in the wash.

The covers should be machine washed separately in a cold gentle cycle. Wash inside out and line dry.

Do not bleach, soak or dry clean.
